Honorary Membership of Rotary Club

At a recent meeting of the Portlethen & District Rotary Club, I was inducted as an Honorary Rotarian for my volunteer work at St Joseph's Social Centre in Chennai, India. The Club presented a cheque for £200 to the "Little Drops Charity Trust" which will allow a pupil to attend school for a year and has promised that the the same amount will be donated for each of the next three years.

Rotary District Governor, Clive Bartram, praised the Portlethen & District Rotary Club for their activities, service and charitable good work both in the local area and abroad in India, Pakistan and Uganda.

The Toby Sutherland Award

One of Scotland's golfing pioneers has achieved another personal milestone after being awarded the Toby Sunderland Award for her charitable deeds in India.

Muriel Thomson, who has the distinction of being Scotland's first lady golf club professional, was presented with the prestigious award at the BMW PGA Championship, in recognition of her efforts in raising thousands of pounds to school orphans in the city of Chennai.
The award, presented annually by the famous Scottish golf rainwear manufacturer, recognises outstanding charity work by PGA pros.
